Ride for Kids

2011 Ride for Kids
The Dualies have been raising money for PBTF since 1994. We started out showing up and riding like everyone else. We soon found out this was more than just another ride. The second year we attended the ride we “adopted” one of the kids as an Honorary Dualie. Michael Hoefflin was battling brain cancer and we wanted to take his mind off his challenges and show him the fun of dualsport riders. His passing deeply affected the club. Michael touched our founding members hearts so much that the club decided to dedicate itself to helping find a cure. This is where the clubs focus all began. We have shown movies, held garage sales, knocked on doors, asked friends, relatives, bosses, and other riders on the trail for donations. We are a very active club when it comes to riding but we do a pretty good job of fundraising as well. Over the past decade the Dualies have donated over $200,000.00. We have been privileged to watch some of the kids and their parents come back year after year to the Ride For Kids Ride in San Bernadino. We have been able to see where our money is going and watch the successes of the research. This is one event where the ride takes a distant back seat to the Awards ceremony. The ride is a good one but you just have to be there and feel the joy from the families you are helping.
